I turn upon new paths
old roads are left behind
these lands where I once dwelled
shall ever hold a piece of mine.
Strangers’ smiles I remember
unspoken friendships, unnamed bonds
sweet strains that flowed from flutes
happy noons spent under the neem’s cool frond.
My hand’s raised in farewell
I steal a last glance back
this heart heavy heaves in memory
of narrow lanes, those roadside shacks.
But adies aren’t always for ever
some day shall we meet again
till then I shed tender tears of sorrow
didn’t someone call parting a sweet pain?
